Tenugui
Tenugui are incredibly versatile—used for drying, wrapping, decorating, and gifting.
At TORIDORI, we offer carefully selected tenugui created using
chūsen, a traditional Japanese dyeing technique that has been practiced since the Meiji era. This method preserves the softness of the fabric while making it highly absorbent and quick to dry. Because the dye penetrates the cloth evenly, each piece can be used on both sides—one of chūsen’s unique characteristics.
As the process is influenced by daily conditions such as temperature and humidity, each piece develops subtle variations in color and pattern—an authentic mark of hand craftsmanship.
Custom bonsai orders
We offer fully custom-designed bonsai, from miniature pieces to large-scale bonsai, creating personalized design plans and bringing each vision to life.
We also provide guided tours to bonsai production regions, offering guests the opportunity to experience the origins of this traditional art form.
*Due to international plant import regulations, shipping availability and timelines depend on the destination country.
Wajima Lacquerware
Wajima lacquerware created by Osaki Shouemon, a lacquer studio based in Wajima City, Ishikawa, and one of TORIDORI’s valued partners.
Founded in the late Edo period (more than 400 years ago), the studio has long been committed to the careful selection of wood bases and natural lacquer, creating vessels designed to be used and appreciated for many years.
In the wake of the earthquake that affected Wajima, many pieces of lacquerware were damaged. Through restoring these works and continuing to share their beauty, TORIDORI strives to carry this tradition into the future. With the help of professional kintsugi artisans, we began restoring these lacquerware pieces using kintsugi repair techniques, breathing new life into them by hand.
Through our store, we aim to share the beauty and stories of Wajima lacquerware with a global audience while returning a portion of our profits to support regional recovery efforts.
Edo Komon Accessories
We offer handcrafted Edo komon accessories created in collaboration with one of our partner workshops.
Choose from items such as pouches, eco bags, and placemats, and customize them with your preferred patterns. Each design carries its own meaning, allowing you to select something that reflects your intentions or sentiments.
These pieces also make thoughtful, personalized gifts—especially when chosen with their symbolic meanings in mind.
